How much is the initial Franchise Fee?

The Franchise Fee for a single Big Al’s Steaks location is $27,500 for the initial Franchise term.
If purchased in an area development agreement, each additional Big Al’s Steaks location is $20,000.

 

How much are the Royalty payments?

Royalties are 6% of Royalty sales (gross sales less taxes & discounts), paid weekly through
pre-authorized payment.


How much are Advertising Royalty payments?

Advertising Royalty payment is 2% of Royalty Sales paid weekly through pre-authorized payment
utilized to build the brand both locally and nationally. Big Al’s Steaks franchisees are required to
spend a similar amount on local advertising.

 

What is the term for a typical Franchise Agreement?

The initial term of the Standard Franchise Agreement is granted for a period of 10 years. In most

cases it is renewed for an additional 10 year term at the end of the initial term.

 

Does Big Al’s Steaks provide financing to Franchisees?

Big Al’s Steaks does not provide financing. Traditional franchise methods of acquiring financing

are recommended. Government supported small business/franchise loans may be available to

qualified applicants. $50,000-$100,000 unencumbered cash per location is required. We will

however arrange a meeting with our bank if you choose to finance out your operation.


Who selects the store location?

The Franchisee selects the location. Big Al’s Steaks provides site selection criteria to assist with

the search. We recommend utilizing a commercial real estate broker to help with site selection,
and Big Al’s Steaks will aid in broker selection. Big Al’s Steaks must grant final site approval.


Is prior food service experience necessary?

Although not essential, related food service experience is extremely helpful.


Who signs the lease?

The Franchisee signs the lease(s) for their store(s). Big Al’s Steaks will add language to the
lease that supports the Franchisor – Franchisee relationship and provides Brand support.


Who is responsible for store development?

Big Al’s Steaks co-ordinates the building program from store design and construction through
leasehold completion and equipment placement. The Franchisee will co-ordinate with the Franchisor
in all phases as his store is built.


What is the return on investment and profitability of a Big Al’s Steaks Franchise?

The profitability and return on investment for a Big Al’s Steaks Franchise is dependent on many

factors. These include the quality of the location, competition, sales volume, fixed costs, cost of

financing and the Franchisees ability to run a successful operation.


Is a Franchisee required to be personally involved in the day to day operation of a store?

It is preferred that the Franchisee be "Hands On" in all facets of the business. However, an

appropriately trained, operationally approved manager may assume the in-store responsibilities of a

Franchisee.


What Training does a new Franchisee require?

Big Al’s Steaks provides two separate training sessions for each Franchisee.

1- About one month before your scheduled opening, Big Al’s Steaks will pay all transportation,
food and lodging for a Franchisee (or their designated representative) to attend training at
Big Al’s Steaks’ training facility:

ü 9 day training program in Delray Beach, Florida (both classroom and in-store training)

ü 1 day trip to Philadelphia, the home of the Cheesesteak, to familiarize the Franchisee
with the origins and current state of the Cheesesteak industry. You will sample
Cheesesteaks from the most famous to the most infamous.

2- Just prior to the Franchisee grand opening:

ü 7 day Pre-opening training session. At least one Big Al’s Steaks representative will
travel to your store to aid in employee hiring and training. Our representative will review
all Big Al’s Processes and verify the status of all equipment and in-store operations.




Can a Franchisee own more than one Big Al’s Steaks?

Yes, provided that the Franchisee has demonstrated to the satisfaction of Big Al’s Steaks that

they are financially capable and can properly manage more than one store.


Can a Big Al’s Steaks franchisee sell their franchise?

Yes, subject to approval of the sale and the incoming Franchisee by Big Al’s Steaks. A transfer
fee is charged.

* International: Australia, Brazil, Canada (Alberta, Ontario, and PEI only), France, Indonesia,
Malaysia, Mexico, Russia, Spain, and Venezuela.
